Position summary

The Alumni Consultant will implement and manage the alumni strategy of RMIT Vietnam. The cornerstone of this strategy being the establishment and support of various Alumni Chapters, in partnership with Centres.  The Alumni Consultant will support the delivery of events and manage communications (including social media, electronic communications and publications).  The role is responsible for building long term relationships with all stakeholders to ensure success and sustainability of alumni relations in Vietnam.

The role will work closely with RMIT Melbourne to build a collaborative and effective alumni program for our local and global graduate community. 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Implement and manage alumni strategies and programs at RMIT
  • Work in partnership with Centres to develop alumni chapters
  • Manage and deliver a number of strategic events and activities
  • Establish and manage individual relationships with selected alumni in order to facilitate mutually beneficial outcomes for the alumnus and the University
  • Ensure all activity with alumni is recorded on the Alumni database; report on alumni and communications activity as required. Liaise with internal and external clients and provide information reports and advice as relevant
  • Manage and develop the alumni web presence, including relevant Chapter pages
  • Work with RMIT Alumni in Melbourne to align with alumni strategy
  • Launch and manage the mentoring program and platform or alumni and industry. Engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the employment consultant to offer to alumni employment opportunities

To be considered, you must have:

  • Experience in alumni relations
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing new and/or enhancing existing volunteer groups
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise with management, staff and external organisations and establish effective professional relationships with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in event and project management, including the coordination of communications, marketing and promotional activities.
  • Experience with database usage and reporting on business objectives.
  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines and to resolve work issues with limited assistance.
  • Superior negotiation skills and demonstrated capacity to develop effective relationships with graduates, staff, industry and students to ensure understanding and support for alumni programs.
  • Demonstrated high-level analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, as per the RMIT Behavioural Capability Framework (Connectedness, Commitment to Excellence – Improve and Simplify; Imagination and Innovation; Impact; Inclusion; Agility).

If English is not your first language, or you have not completed secondary education in an English speaking institution in an English speaking country, then you will be required to demonstrate a minimum English language proficiency standard at a BULATS Upper Intermediate level (BULATS score 75-89), equivalent to IELTS (General) 6.5 - 7.5. If you are not sure your current level of English language proficiency, RMIT Vietnam will provide opportunities for you to undertake testing if you are shortlisted for the position.
