Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs P.R.C. (abbreviated as BIOMA) was established in 1979 in Chengdu, Sichuan province. It now has six scientific innovation teams: energy microorganism, utilization of straw as resources, utilization of livestock and poultry waste as energy, pollution control, quality and safety risk assessment of biomass fermentation products, planning and pollution control of rural human settlement environment, development strategy and policy of rural biomass energy and human settlement environment and so on. BIOMA hosts 16 international, provincial and ministerial platforms for scientific innovation and supporting, including Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Reference Center for Biogas Technology Research and Training, Agency for Nutrition Assessment and Appraisal of New, Premium and Special Agricultural Products of China, Key Laboratory of Energy Microorganism of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Key Laboratory of Development and Application of Rural Renewable Energy of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Quality and Safety Inspection Center for Agricultural Biomass Energy Products of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Sichuan Anaerobic Microorganisms Resource Center and so on.

- NO.1 Major responsibilities:

Conduct research on the process and technology of methane production by anaerobic fermentation of agricultural and forestry wastes, biochemical metabolism and molecular mechanism of anaerobic microorganisms, the community structure and function of the methane production by the process of organic matter degradation, and the anaerobic biodegradation process and characteristics of organic pollutants.

- NO.2 Major responsibilities:

Conduct research on bioinformatics; establish bioinformatics platform and maintain date base; conduct research on the utilization of straw as resources.

- NO.3 Major responsibilities:

Conduct R&D of intelligent equipment for waste treatment.

- NO.4  Major responsibilities:

Conduct research on the influence of heavy metal in biogas fertilizer, antibiotics, pesticide and veterinary drug residues, microorganism on local environment and the safety of agricultural products( or quality), as well as the elimination of that influence.

- NO.5  Major responsibilities:

Conduct research on theories and technology of rural domestic wastes and domestic wastewater treatment, development of complete sets of equipment and construction of demonstration projects.

- NO.6 Major responsibilities:

Conduct research on technical path, development mode and big data establishment related to biomass energy with biogas as the core.

Desired skills and experience

1. Master or Doctor’s degree in biology, chemistry, agriculture, environment, electromechanical, economies and other relevant areas;

2. Published more than one SCI papers as the first author;

3. Applicants with overseas study experience or relevant working experience are preferred.
