Description

Karlstad University is making available the Karlstad University Global Scholarship programme for Masters degree studies and free-standing courses commencing Autumn 2019, for top academic students from countries outside the European Union/European Economic Area (and Switzerland) who are required to pay tuition fees for studies.

Benefits

Scholarships cover 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fees. The scholarship value is deducted from the tuition fees. The scholarship does not cover living expenses. Students need to show that they have sufficient funds for the total period of study in order to be able to get a residence permit for studies.

The scholarship is only made available for Masters degree programmes starting in a fall semester. The scholarship can be applied for by students when they start a program, and the student can apply for up to 2 years. The scholarship for the second semester (spring semester) is granted on the condition that the scholarship holder has passed at least 15 credits during the autumn semester.

Eligibility

Applications for scholarships will be considered only if the application fee is paid or if the student is exempted from paying the application fee. Students from the following 12 countries are not eligible: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Instead, students from these countries should apply for The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships.

Scholarship applicants must first have applied for studies at Karlstad University before applying for the scholarship.

The following are not eligible for the scholarship:

• Those who have already lived in Sweden for 2 years or more when the scholarship period is due to begin;
• Those with a Swedish permanent residence permit or a work permit;
• Those who are holding a scholarship for studies from Swedish Institute or from a Swedish university/university college; and
• Those who already hold a Masters degree from a Swedish university/university college.

The scholarship application form, which is available online, has to be received by Karlstad University by 1 February 2019.
